Wednesday Night Supper
Resumes August 27th!

Welcome to Bethel United Methodist Church.  I am delighted that you are visiting our website and I hope that you will choose to visit us at the corner of Church and Henry Streets in Spartanburg, SC.  The mission of Bethel UMC is to make disciples of Jesus Christ.  We invite people to Christ, grow disciples and send them into the world to make a difference.

Worship takes many forms at Bethel.  We have three Sunday morning worship services: Two, at 8:45 and the other at 10:55.   One early service is less formal and relaxed, without formal choir and response music, yet traditional.  This service is held in the sanctuary at 8:45.  Spirit Song is our contemporary service held in the gym each Sunday at 8:45.  This service features the Bethel Band with guitars, horns, and drums.  An atmosphere of celebration abounds.  The 10:55 service is traditional with a large choir and beautifully sung responses.  The Choir anthem features a variety of music.  Holy Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of every month in the early service and every other month in the other services.

Sunday School is an important ministry at Bethel.  Our children share in a Workshop Rotation Model of Learning.  This is an exciting program in Christian Education where children learn stories and truths from the Bible in 5 different settings for 5 weeks.  Our youth share in a variety of programs of learning, service, and fellowship.  We have 12 different adult classes which feature a variety of teaching methods as well as a variety of ages.  Sunday School begins at 9:45.

You can follow the above link for Youth Ministries to find out more about our wonderful BUMS ministry.  What a great program of mission and service.

Wednesdays during the school year we join in a time of eating together and then studying the text for next Sunday’s sermon followed by a time of intercessory prayer for the congregation, the community and the world.  The meal is prepared by our kitchen staff at a very nominal fee.  Choirs and small groups are meeting on these nights as well.

If you want to know more about our church, please feel free to email us or call us at the church.  We think that once you experience Bethel, you will want to be a part of this group of disciples on a journey.

If you want to know more about becoming a Christian, please email me.

If you wish to join, we would love to hear from you.  You may follow the link above to New Members ministry.  My prayer is that you will join us for worship, fellowship and study.  Let’s make a difference together.

In Christ,

Senior Pastor
