July 27, 2006 - Natural Church Development introduced to Church Council October 26, 2006 - Process approved by the Church Council November 12, 2006 - NCD Process presented to combined Sunday School Classes in Fellowship Hall April 19, 2007 - NCD Team elected by Church Council June 10, 2007 - NCD Survey taken by 30 core members of the church July 24, 2007 - NCD Survey results showed our Minimum Factor was Need-Oriented Evangelism Sept. 2007- NCD Team worked/studied/prayed about next Steps with info printed in newsletter and Sunday bulletin January 5, 2008 - NCD Team met with Church council for morning retreat to begin asking: “Why is Need-Oriented Evangelism our Minimum Factor?” Feb. and March 2008 - NCD Team members visited Sunday School Classes to ask same question: “Why?” April 7, 2008 - NCD Team compiles our reasons and offers five goals to improve our minimum factor
Results of visits to Sunday School Classes and Church Council
Why we believe that need oriented evangelism is our minimum factor.
- Due to our lack of understanding we have a fear of evangelism
- There is a lack of commitment to evangelism
- We have not been trained or educated on how to evangelize
- We do not understand the needs of our members or those in the community
- We are reluctant to change
Qualitative Goals
- Communicate to the congregation the Health Team’s next steps and why our core members believe that our minimum factor is need oriented evangelism. (see the five above)

- Identify Bethel’s spiritual gifts by completing a spiritual gifts inventory with our Sunday School Classes.

- Establish an Evangelism Team

- Gift oriented training for evangelism for small group and Sunday School leaders

- Schedule and plan an evangelistic event

Our Evangelism Team has been formed and Bob Handell is the Chair.
